The Fresh Diet

While checking out the daily Groupon a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon The Fresh Diet. The fresh diet is a delivery and food preparation service. Now I don’t eat a lot of “healthy” types of food so I was skeptical if they would have any food fit for a picky eater that doesn’t eat most vegetables. So I purchased some meals via the Groupon and setup my meal plan.

All I can say is wow! This morning I opened my door at 5am to head to the gym and my food was sitting at my door. The Fresh Diet container with several ice blocks keeping everything cool, kept quite nicely until I arrived at work at 7:15am. When my coworkers saw the menu I was the envy of the office. Each item looks and tastes like it is from a high end restaurant. Besides tasting great, my entire food allotment is under 1800 calories. I’ll say it again, WOW. Below is what I had for today.

  •  Apple Pistachio Muffin with Fresh Watermelon & Blueberry Yogurt
  • Grilled Chicken Breast on Multi-Grain Baguette with Sauteed Yellow Bell Pepper & Shallots
  • Fillet of Wild Grouper with Roasted Yellow Pepper & Shallot Sauce with Whole Wheat Angel Hair Pasta and Cilantro Roasted Yellow Tomato
  • Mushroom Crowns Stuffed with Sauteed Garlic Beef With Tomato Sauce
  • Pineapple Cheese Cake

Darth Vadar said it best “Most Impressive”. I can’t for my next delivery.

Anti drug message

Now I’ve never done any illegal drugs in my life. So I mean it when I say “kids don’t do drugs”. To further illustrate that point to adults, I’ll point to the youtube clip below. Beware this has some bad language but I think it is worth it. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve watched this clip over 10 times.

Great week back

10 workouts down last week. 3 spin classes, 2 treadmill workouts and 5 swim workouts. Total time spent was just under 7 hours. Not bad for just getting back into the swing of things. I’m carrying those good workouts from last week into this week and feeling strong.

This past Saturday I went and weighed in for the Lifetime Fitness 90 day weight loss challenge. With my clothes and shoes on I weighed in at 307lbs.

Roy Nelson is my hero

UFC fighter Roy Nelson is my hero. Tough as nails, hard puncher, very good grapler. Sounds like everybody in the UFC right? The difference is Roy looks like he is about seven months pregnant. This guy is always underestimated, and most of the time that is a HUGE mistake. In the age of HGH, blood dopers and steroid users, Roy is a throw back to the old days. God bless him.

When bad is good

If you haven’t already seen this youtube clip about a news story in Huntsville, AL please take a look at it. Then you will be able to fully enjoy the remixed version of the story by the insanely talented group Auto-Tune the News. I’m usually not a big fan of youtube remixes but this is the funniest of them all. Better than a double rainbow by at least four rainbows. Thanks for the link Eddie G.

My morning song

Have you seen the movie Crazy Heart? Great movie, Jeff Bridges rocks and the original songs on the soundtrack are excellent. The theme song (by Ryan Bringham) from the movie is “The Weary Kind” and it is getting a lot of play as I drive in to my working workout. It is a perfect mix of a melancholy and suddle power. The part of the song below makes me think of the training I’m doing and the race of my life that is forthcoming. If you have never heard it, enjoy.

“And this aint no place for the weary kind
And this aint no place to lose your mind
And this aint no place to fall behind
Pick up your crazy heart and give it one more try”

No cure for stupid

I’m guessing the guy in this video didn’t die, so I feel ok laughing at it. Anyway this is a reminder that there is no cure for stupid. Second lessons, icecream will kick your butt. Well at the very least icecream trucks can.

2nd test completed

My second workout since the surgery went well. I walked on the treadmill for 60 minutes. I start at 3.5mph with a 1.5 incline. I increase the incline .5 every five minutes. I topped out at 4.5. It is a good steady fat burning workout. It is exactly what I need. 131 was my average heartbeat for the sixty minutes. I swam at lunch for about 20 minutes. 500 meters straight at an easy pace, 250 breastroke, 250 freestyle. My body still gripes about the swim a little bit. I’m getting there. Slow turtle wins the race!

In other news I officialy “retired” from raiding in World of Warcraft. I’ve enjoyed a good run. I had some great times and met some really good people. This was my second time playing, the first when the game was first released. Good times, good times.

Getting strong now

Tough spin class this moring at Lifetime Fitness City Centre. The instructor Kathy always runs a tough class and it was tough backing off when she keeps egging you on to push it harder. What made it easier was I quickly was getting tired and had no choice but to back off. My watch said I burned 746 calories in 57 minutes. Avg heartrate was 123 which is lower than my normal.

I’m especially proud that I got the workout in since I had trouble falling asleep to the tune of almost an hour and then woke up in the night to go to the bathroom.
