Starting Sunday night I was having some stomach cramping that I blamed on a overly rich Sunday lunch. I completed my Monday workouts as normal but the pain in my stomach increased to a stronger cramping feeling. I went to bed early on Monday at 8pm and by 1am was waking up with more bloating and burping. At 4:30am I thought maybe I should go to the hospital as my side was hurting some near my appendix. The problem was all of this slowly increased so it was tough to maintain perspective.
Then it happened.
Around 6:30am on Tuesday I felt the worse pain in my life. All around my waist. It doubled me over and I started sweating like crazy. I started to take a shower, then knew there was no time. I awoke my wife with the words, “somethings horribly wrong, I need to go to the hospital”. I didn’t want to scare my kids and I didn’t feel like I had time to wait. So I drove myself, feeling like I was about to die. Sweat pouring off of me at this point. I struggled into the ER and tossed my wallet to the person checking me in all the while screaming in pain. They checked me in very quickly and a nurse asked me if I still had my appendix. She then said what I was thinking when I answered yes, “not for long”.
So I’m now post surgery and super bumbed about this entire ordeal. I’m still in a lot of pain and super bummbed about my training be derailed. How long would I be kept from working out was the first thing I asked in the ER once they knew it was my appendix. Four weeks is the official word as of now. Insert sad face.
Anyway that is all I’ve got for now. I’m still pretty weak. I’m suppose to go home tomorrow as long as my fever doesn’t pop back up. My fingers are crossed. Special thanks to my wife and inlaws during this tough time. Along with my friends The Harrods and The Spinnatos. Thanks for visiting.
This isn’t my appendix since mine ruptured, but this is what an appendix looks like.
